Chief Operating Office.

Position Summary:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the operational, financial, administrative, and development functions of a well Known Academy. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the COO works closely with the Head of School but operates independently in executing strategic plans and managing all non-academic operations.

Summary of Role and Key Responsibilities:

The position encompasses several critical areas, primarily focusing on Strategic Operations & Planning, Financial Management, Facilities & Campus Operations, Human Resources & Compliance, Technology & Infrastructure, Board Relations & Institutional Reporting, and Development & Fundraising.

  • Strategic Operations & Planning : The role emphasizes improving operational efficiency, collaborating with the Board on long-term goals, and continuously assessing operational policies.
  • Financial Management : Responsibilities include overseeing daily financial activities such as budgeting and cash flow management, in addition to working with the Treasurer and Finance Committee for audits and financial planning.
  • Facilities & Campus Operations : The individual will manage campus operations covering maintenance and security, while coordinating with relevant committees to align facilities with academic and extracurricular needs.
  • Human Resources & Compliance : This involves overseeing HR functions for non-academic staff, ensuring compliance with laws and best practices in human resources.
  • Technology & Infrastructure : The role includes supervising IT operations for secure and reliable systems, and assessing technology needs for improvements.
  • Board Relations & Institutional Reporting : Regular updates to the Board on key operational areas and acting as a liaison between the Board and operational departments is crucial.
  • Development & Fundraising : Leading development initiatives, cultivating donor relationships, managing fundraising efforts, and overseeing grant writing while collaborating with the Development Committee are key tasks in this area.


Qualifications
: Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's preferred), with 7-10+ years of leadership experience in operations or finance, ideally within independent schools or similar organizations. Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal skills, and a proven track record in fundraising are essential.
