Under the direction of the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO), the Director of Finance provides strategic and operational leadership across all financial functions of the organization. Operating within a $26 million nonprofit with multifaceted programs—ranging from early childhood education to active aging—the Director of Finance leads budgeting, forecasting, audit coordination, compliance, financial reporting, and financial planning efforts, while directly supervising the finance team.
This position is responsible for maintaining the organization's financial health, providing clear and timely insights to senior leadership, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) guidelines, and regulatory requirements. The Director plays a key role in both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy through internal decision support, external reporting, and continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.
The position relies on strong analytical skills, collaborative relationships, and proactive financial leadership to inform decisions across the organization. Responsibilities include organization-wide forecasting, budget development and oversight, new business and program modeling, and financial grants management. This position works closely with program leadership, fundraising, operations, and human resources to ensure fiscal alignment and long-term sustainability.

Skills and Abilities
Physical Requirements: This position is a hybrid role (some administrative duties may be performed remotely while others require an in-person presence) making this a hybrid position. This position primarily involves standard deskwork and computer usage; work is performed in an office environment with no extreme conditions. Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods. Able to work well in a busy, dynamic and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Occasional lifting of up to 10-25 lbs. (e.g., office supplies, file box, small packages).
