Job Description

Job Title: Security & Facilities Manager (On-Site, Full-Time)

Salary Range: $80,000–$100,000 (based on experience)

About the Role:

Our client is hiring a full-time, on-site Security & Facilities Manager to lead day-to-day operations of a mall/shopping center. This person will be responsible for security, maintenance, and cleaning and will personally cover one of the daily security shifts.

We need someone present, hands-on, and positive, someone who takes pride in keeping the property clean, safe, and welcoming. You’ll be the face of the property during the day, leading by example and holding others accountable.

Key Responsibilities:

Security

  • Oversee the full security team: hire, manage, schedule, and terminate as needed.
  • Walk the property regularly and monitor all security cameras.
  • Be a welcoming presence — tenants and guests should feel safe and comfortable.
  • Respond quickly and calmly to any issues on-site.
  • Personally, work one of the daytime security shifts (e.g., morning).

Maintenance

  • Take initiative on minor property improvements or project oversight.
  • Coordinate with vendors when advanced repairs are needed.
  • Change HVAC filters every 6 months.
  • Perform basic handyman tasks: painting, patchwork, door repairs, bulb replacements, etc.

Cleaning

  • Maintain the cleanliness of ~50,000 sq. ft. of mall common area.
  • Operate floor machines and other cleaning equipment daily.

Support & Communication

  • Assist management when needed, including showing spaces or talking to prospects.
  • Communicate with the mall office regularly to report problems or progress.
  • Be an extra set of eyes and hands for anything ownership needs handled on-site.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in security, building maintenance, or facilities leadership.
  • Ability to lead others while also working independently and getting your hands dirty.
  • Friendly, calm, reliable, someone who brings positive energy and a strong work ethic.
  • Perform hands-on work daily.
  • Comfortable with basic technology: security systems, phones, emails, etc.
  • Local to Minneapolis and familiar with coordinating service vendors.

Additional Expectation:

The person in this role must take full ownership of the property and be deeply familiar with the building’s systems and layout — including how to operate basic electronic controls, building access systems, and general troubleshooting. While there is a building manager, they are not always on-site, so this person will often act as the go-to contact for tenants during the day .

They should be comfortable learning and taking over light facilities operations — like helping when there are heating/cooling challenges, keeping all areas clean including parking decks, and making judgment calls when management isn’t available. This is a hands-on role that requires real commitment, reliability, and the ability to step up when needed .
