Job Description

About Slate

At Slate, we've got one job: building a vehicle you'll fall in love with, right here in the USA. We believe that car buyers — not car companies — should call the shots. We like looking at a road, not a screen. We don't like paying for stuff we don't need.
We like picking out the stuff we do need. We think dings are badges, not blemishes. But we know not everyone likes what we like. So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours.

Who we are looking for:

The Head of Manufacturing for the general assembly line is responsible for supervising all aspects of the general assembly process. This role ensures that production targets are met efficiently, safely, and with the highest quality standards, supporting the company's overall manufacturing goals.

What you get to do:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize the general assembly process.
  • Set production goals and ensure alignment with overall company objectives.
  • Lead and run the body line manufacturing team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team performance.
  • Establish and maintain robust quality assurance protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Supervise production quality and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and run the manufacturing budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Be responsible for resource allocation and run external contractors and vendors.
  • Continuously identify areas for optimization and orchestrate initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement advanced production techniques and technologies to improve the general assembly process.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes align with safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Develop and implement safety procedures for the body line.
  • Maintain accurate records of production activities, equipment status, and process improvements.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on manufacturing performance to senior management.

What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications in manufacturing or related areas are a plus.
  • 15 years of experience in manufacturing managerial roles; OEM experience preferred.
  • Consistent track record of managing large-scale production operations and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in manufacturing management software and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
