Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a
Staff Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer . This position is located at Roy, Utah and will support the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division.
What You'll Get To Do: - Reviews and interprets existing and proposed environmental, health, safety & sustainability (EHS&S) regulations to determine applicability and impact for sites.
- Assists with implementation of programs to comply with EHS&S regulations.
- Partners with business leaders to continuously improve the culture, awareness, and accountability in support of EHS&S programs.
- Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS&S programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.
- Completes audits, IH sampling, ergonomic assessments, and assist in pollution prevention activities.
- Interfaces with regulatory representatives, senior management, the site EHS&S Committee.
- Assists with the implementation of EHS&S management systems at the site level.
- Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serve as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
- Contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards.
- Considered expert in field within the organization.
- Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform complex tasks.
- Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
- Develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation.
- Ensure solutions are consistent with organization objectives.

- Serves as consultant to management and special external spokesperson for the organization on major matters pertaining to its policies, plans, and objectives.
- Acts as an advisor to senior management and customers.
- Additional roles and responsibilities may include:
- Serves as a liaison with regulatory agencies.
- Provides timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to the company and regulatory agencies.
- Write and updates EHS plans and procedures.
- Applies for new permits and renewals.
- Conduct compliance inspections and identifies actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates EHS training for employees and conducts instructor-led EHS training.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You'll Bring These Qualifications Basic Qualifications: - 12 years of experience with a Bachelor's of Science degree; or 10 years of experience with a Masters degree; or 8 years of experience with PHD.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in leadership role managing a team of EHS professionals in the field of EHS.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in conducting one or more of the following: air monitoring, noise surveys and dosimetry, ventilation surveys, respiratory protection and fit testing, field sampling, cryogenics study, and incident investigations.
- Experience in conducting personal protective equipment assessments, and/or job hazard analysis.
- Experience in conducting in person training and/or developing online training for various industrial hygiene related topics to various types of audience.
- Experience with managing various industrial hygiene and safety programs based on the review and interpretation of regulations and standards.
- Proficient with computer based programs specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or Power Point programs.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance (Secret, Top Secret; etc.)
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: - Master of Science (MS) degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or currently enrolled in an M.S. degree program.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Experience with managing/overseeing third party consultants/contractors.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication and collaboration skills with all levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and multi-task various Industrial Hygiene and Safety programs effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with subordinates and delegate responsibilities with productive outcome.
- Ammunition/Explosives safety
- Experience with Hazardous waste shipments.
- Experience conducting engineer design reviews for manufacturing and production tooling.
- Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize, plan and execute in rapidly changing, fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality results.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and to develop innovative solutions based on sound scientific principles.
- Ability to provide technical solutions to complex problems based on sound safety principles.
- Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvements and to develop and implement more efficient and enhanced programs
- Experience with supporting EHS programs for manufacturing operations.
Salary Range: $134,300.00 - $201,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
